Ryan’s civil litigation practice has involved virtually every aspect of litigation, from pre-suit investigations and related negotiations to day-to-day case management, including the inherent discovery and depositions, motion practice, court hearings, and trial. He has handled a variety of cases involving diverse allegations, including the provision of health care and medical treatment, other alleged professional negligence, premises liability and alleged negligent security, and products liability. His cases have involved significant issues, ranging from allegations of wrongful death to debilitating and devastating personal injuries.

He is experienced in representing licensed professionals such as physicians, nurses, and other health care providers before state licensing authorities and boards in both Texas and New Mexico.

Ryan’s litigation experience also extends beyond the trial court and includes appellate experience before various courts of appeals, including oral argument before the Supreme Court of Texas. His civil litigation experience encompasses multiple state and federal jurisdictions, including Texas, New Mexico and jurisdictions as far as Alaska.

  • Obtained dismissal of a health care professional in suit stemming from the alleged sexual molestation of a minor while confined within a hospital setting
  • Secured the dismissal of a physician in wrongful death case stemming from allegations of improper care
  • Secured the dismissal of an ophthalmologist in a serious personal injury case wherein the patient’s visual impairments allegedly resulted from purported improper surgical care and post-operative treatment
  • Successfully defended and resolved for nominal value suit filed against obstetrician stemming from a serious birth injury resulting in the child’s cerebral palsy
  • Secured favorable resolution for a hospital during first week of trial in case involving the alleged wrongful death of a young mother resulting from a misdiagnosis of her medical condition
  • Successfully defended and resolved serious products liability lawsuit wherein the death of a motorcycle occupant was alleged to have occurred as a result of defect in the design and manufacture of the motorcycle
